Self Directed.
Technique: 3D scanning, Boolean Intersection and Difference.
Medium: Rendering, Sculpture, Photography.

| The advent of 3D scanning has provided a wealth of high resolution surface models that contain not only the visual texture, but the physical articulation and imperfections found within in this case human biology. This series of sculptures were created through intersecting a digital model of a hand through itself resulting in forms that though indexed to a recognisable form diverges greatly from one permutation to the next.

.

As they have become digital artifacts, there is no need to maintain an ‘original’ scale indexed to the 3D scan. Conversely, one can exaggerate the abstract quality of the new object by shifting the scale in either direction.
